GP REGISTRARS
At Cordium
We take pride in the fact that the majority of our practices are accredited to train registrars through RACGP.
We are passionate about helping shape the next generation of General Practitioners, and although teaching in medicine has come a long way from “see one, do one and teach one”, the underlying principle of learning from each other still applies.
Our belief is that having registrars and medical students improves the knowledge of the whole clinic, as every doctor is kept on their toes by the weird, interesting, and whacky questions presented to them and hence improves patient outcomes.
Our supervisors, at every practice, are happy for the registrars to ask any questions on a day-to-day basis and provide practical advice. Additionally, within our network of supervisors, we have RACGP examiners, ECT visitors, and academics who all assist in preparing registrars for their examinations.
In addition to practice teaching, we conduct quarterly registrar seminars which provide them with the opportunity to learn from fellow registrars and newly fellowed general practitioners, and we are focused on the clinical and non-clinical aspects of being a GP.
Some of our evolving seminar topics are listed below.
- Registrar induction, introducing the team, supervisors, practices, and the results and recalls processes
- Understanding how to build up a patient base
- Building your own ‘Brand’
- Smart billings and Medicare item numbers
- Becoming a contractor: How to do your BAS, insurance, and others
We try to keep topics as relevant as possible based on the feedback and requests we receive from registrars.
